Despite safety concerns after the October 1 mass shooting, record numbers turned out for the Pride Parade in Las Vegas this weekend, according to Fox5Vegas.com.

Families gathered and revelers celebrated a sense of unity and also sought a mental escape from the tragedy that claimed the lives of 58 festival-goers earlier in the month.

"An environment where it's completely safe," said Pride President James Healey. "To express yourself as who you really are."

All photography of the festival here is by Nick Coletsos. See more of his work on his website, Facebook, and Instagram. See more about Las Vegas Pride on its Facebook page.
