Pride finds both heartfelt and slightly loony expressions in "the city the knows how." Read more below.
The theme this year in San Francisco for Pride, "Generations of Strength," is perfectly fitting for the city that has proudly been a mecca for LGBT people for over 100 years.
With over 200 parade contingents and exhibitors, and more than 20 community-run stages and venues, the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade is the largest gathering of the LGBT community and allies in the nation.
Celebrations began Saturday in Civic Center Plaza in downtown San Francisco. The parade, which took place Sunday morning, kicked off from Beale Street along Market and ended at Market and Eighth streets in the heart of downtown San Francisco.
A world leader in the Pride movement, SF Pride is also a grant-giving organization through its Community Partners Program. Since 1997, SF Pride has awarded over $2.5 million from proceeds of the Pride Celebration and Parade to local nonprofit LGBT organizations and those organizations working on issues related to HIV/AIDS, cancer, homelessness, and animal welfare.
Find out much more on SF Pride's website, Facebook, and Instagram.
