Rob McElhenney has gone viral for a declaration of LGBTQ support that includes an expletive.

The It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star and co-creator was asked by a fan to say "gay rights" for a Twitter video. "Gay rights?" the actor asked, before deciding to one-up the prompt. "Gay mother-fucking rights!"

Since its posting last Wednesday, the video has caught fire on Twitter with over 8,000 shares and 45,000 likes. In addition to McElhenney's declaration, fans of the long-running FX comedy were also excited to spot Kaitlin Olson, McElhenney's wife and Sunny costar, smiling her approval and amusement in the background.

McElhenney is the latest celeb to declare "gay rights" for fans on social media. The Favourite's Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman made headlines for saying the phrase during awards season last year.

On Sunny, McElhenney plays Ronald "Mac" McDonald, a conservative Catholic who has long wrestled with his sexuality. After years of admiring men's physiques, the character finally came out as gay in season 13. In his own youth, McElhenney's mother came out as a lesbian, and he has spoken in interviews about being raised in a rainbow home.

Sunny is now in its 14th season; the show is now tied with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for the most seasons for a live-action sitcom in American TV history. McElhenney is also the star of Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, which premieres Friday on Apple TV Plus.
