Johnny Weir: Evan Lysacek is a “Slore”

JOHNNY WEIR ON WENDY WILLIAMS X390

Johnny Weir appeared on The Wendy Williams Show Wednesday and responded to Evan Lysacek’s claims that Stars on Ice didn’t invite Weir to participate in the tour because he’s not good enough.

“Even if they asked me today, I wouldn’t do it,” Weir said. And Evan… he’s a slore.”

The word, a combination of “slut” and “whore,” made Williams laugh, and the talk-show host followed it up by thanking Weir for making this year’s figure skating competition “interesting and fabulous.”

Lysacek knows perfectly well that Johnny is an artist on ice and the fact that he won for 3 consecutive times the US championship proves that. Moreover Johnny is invited everywhere to skate, is already "out" and is living his life in a free way. Lysacek wants to embody the "classic" good American boy, but he is not fooling anyone. Winnning a gold medal does not mean being more popular, more invited, more admired than other skaters. I found his comment really silly and offensive. It was not at the level of a gold medalist and Johnny did well answering on the same tone. But think this: is Lysacek being invited skating abroad? I dont think so. Here in Europe we are craving to see Johnny Weir.. he just came back from Russia and Norway and we hope that there will be the chance to see him in other countries very soon. No one craves to see Evan here. No offence. Great athlete, but being an artist is something else. Johnny is an innovator on ice, and Evan cannot do anything against this.

Best of the best? It's only Americans in the show. How does he define best of the best? "Stars" on the Olympics... I don't see Joannie Rochette in the roster.

I supported him wearing fur. I support, also, his freedom of sppech. But it would have been better to address the issue rather than call stupid names. The last I looked Ms. Weir was not exactly a model for old fashioned virtue, to call someone a whore.

I wish everybody would just SHUT UP about this Johnny Weir character already. He's hardly even skating anymore and is doing nothing of interest. All he is is an attention whore. Why does it have to be news in our faces every time someone says something 'mean' about the poor sulky baby? Do we really need to hear his snotty little kid comeback? There's real news to be heard. Who the heck cares about him and his juvenile tit-for-tatting back and forth with some other stupid ice skater? That's all we've got to talk about and get excited about in our culture today? ICE SKATERS???? Hello?--ICE SKATERS?????

The problem here is that Evan Lysacek won gold, while Johnny Weir came in sixth at the Olympics. But Johnny Weir is still the star and the celebrity, while Lysacek is a nobody off the ice. So there is bound to be some friction. And I wonder how long is it going to take Evan Lysacek to come out and acknowledge that he is gay. Johnny Weir has come out as a gay icon and role model. I applaud Johnny Weir for the courage to be who he is, and I only hope Lysacek will find some courage to do the same. Maybe then he will have more of a following in the gay community. And Stars on Ice certainly made a major mistake by not including Johnny Weir on its tour. I won't be attending their performances when they come to my town.

I think that Evan L. went a little too far by saying that Johnny is not a good enough ice skater to be included in the SOI show. Johnny is as good or better than Evan, he does not only have the technical skills but he also has the artistic side to perform beautifully on the ice, Evan is good, but in my opinion he lacks artistic talent, he doesn't have that "WOW" effect that Johnny does when he performs, Johnny's moves are so elegant and beautiful on the ice is like watching a beautiful dancer. Evan mades his dislike for Johnny way too obvious, I wonder if is Jealousy.

Johnny's "slore" comment disapoints me a little. I prefer people to take the high road. Susan Gabriel author of Seeking Sara Summers (a novel about falling in love with your best friend)
