Pinesmodern.org presents the architectural and social history of Fire Island Pines, the predominantly gay summer resort, through a number of audio-visual tours produced and narrated by Rawlins, an award-winning architect and author of the book Fire Island Modernist: Horace Gifford and the Architecture of Seduction. The incredible tours, like time traveling to a pre-AIDS wonderland, can be used by virtual or actual visitors to Fire Island Pines, and offer insight on the modernist architecture and cultural relevance of this special place. Architect Christopher Rawlins, who created the site, was kind enough to share some images and stories from the site with us.
