It's been a great
week for Ellen DeGeneres--CBS announced earlier this week
that The Ellen Show would get a full season pickup,
and the comedian is still riding high on rave reviews for
her hosting duties at the recent Emmy Awards. Her good
fortune continues: Variety columnist Army Archerd
reports that DeGeneres has been chosen to host this year's
Saturday Night Live Christmas show on December
15. She also spoke to Archerd about the direction that
The Ellen Show will take over the course of the
season. "We will try to emphasize the 'fish out of water
character' [hers] and show a little more between the
big-city person set in the small town.... And hopefully now
people will realize this is a different series [than her first]."
In other good news for The Ellen Show, CBS has
announced that the series will be part of its highly rated
Monday night sitcom lineup throughout December. The
Hollywood Reporter notes that the show will air at
8:30 p.m. on December 10 and 17 and at 9:30 p.m. on December
24 and 31. (Check local listings.)
