Cyndi Lauper has joined the honorary board of the Matthew Shepard Foundation and will educate and motivate her fans about the foundation's message of understanding and tolerance during her winter 2005 tour with Sandra Bernhard. "Judy Shepard is an extraordinary human being who has used her and her son Matt's story to make true change in this country," said Lauper in a statement. "I am truly honored to join with the Matthew Shepard Foundation, not only as a member of its honorary board but in spreading the message of love, understanding, and acceptance. If we all stand together for what is fair and just, love will win out over hate." Attendees of Lauper's upcoming concerts will receive a purple Matthew Shepard Foundation "Erase Hate" wristband.
