In a conference call with MGM executives, United Artist bosses Paula Wagner and Tom Cruise announced they are making a Birdcage sequel, reports the New York Daily News' Rush and Molloy.

Speaking to execs, Wagner listed some of UA's upcoming projects, which include a sequel to The Birdcage, the 1996 gay-themed comedy hit. The Birdcage, which starred Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, was a remake of the 1978 French film La Cage aux Folles.

Wagner and Cruise took over the reins of UA, an MGM subsidiary, in November. (The Advocate)
