Gay Adoption Plaintiff Invited to WH Easter Egg Roll

Martin Gill, who is challenging the state of Florida over its ban on gay adoptions, was among the guests invited to attend the White House Easter Egg Roll with his partner and two young children Sunday.

Gill, who spoke with NBC 6 WTVJ in Miami before the event, said he found the invitation "extremely gratifying" and considered it a "strong statement" against discrimination from President Barack Obama.

"I think it's a statement from the Obama administration that they don't discriminate," said Gill. "Inviting us knowing that we are plaintiffs in this lawsuit, I think, yeah, it's a pretty strong statement."

Florida is the only state with an outright ban on gay adoptions. In November 2008, a Florida juvenile court judge ruled in favor of Gill adopting the two brothers he and his partner were fostering. The state appealed that decision and Gill currently awaits a decision from the state's third district court of appeals.
