La Revelacíon de San Juan. Read about the artist and his books below.
Born in Andalucia, Spain, in 1971, Aurelio Monge is a versatile visual artist whose portfolio is inspired deeply by baroque painters and other old masters of romanticism, academism, and symbolism, especially Caravaggio, Velazquez, David, Gericault, and Bouguereau. His work also focuses on the human figure and his enthusiasm for Greco-Roman culture and classical sculpture, particularly Phidias, Lysippos, Michelangelo, Cellini, and Giambologna.
Aurelio tells us, "When I am face-to-face with a Caravaggio, I can feel how it vibrates not only with the beauty of the painting, the concept, and the figures, but also the light invading the darkness with power."
On Aurelio's website you can see more examples of his work and find links to his books -- Academics MMIX-MMXV, Academics (honoring Caravaggio) -- as well.
