Sam Smith has dedicated his new music video to the LGBT community.

The gay singer posted a message to Instagram Thursday morning, which expressed his desire to see marriage equality become a reality worldwide.

"Dear all, The Lay Me Down music video holds a very dear place in my heart," Smith wrote. "With this video, myself and Ryan Hope the director have decided to make a statement and showcase something we passionately believe in."

"This video shows my dreams that one day gay men and women and transgendered men and women all over the world, like all our straight families and friends, will be able to get married under any roof, in any city, in any town, in any village, in any country," he continued.

"I hope you enjoy it. I love you all. x," he concluded.

This isn't the first time Smith has used social media to share important life moments with his fans. After ending a relationship with dancer Jonathan Zeizel, whom he met while shooting another music video, "Like I Can," Smith posted a sad selfie to Instagram.

"Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell. It's been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day x," he captioned.

The note about marriage equality, which has received over 100,000 "Likes" at the time of this article's posting, was released alongside the video for his hit "Lay Me Down," in which Smith weds another man.
