Tyler Brûlé gives up the reins at Wallpaper

Reuters reports that Tyler Brule has resigned as editorial director of Wallpaper and Spruce, two magazines created by the out publishing magnate, amid reports of a creative dispute. AOL Time Warner, which now owns both titles, has named Christina Ferrari, the founder and managing editor of Teen People, acting editorial director for both titles formerly run by Brule, who hinted at his departure in the last issue of Wallpaper, bidding readers thanks and adieu. In a statement, Time Inc. said that Brule left the magazines to focus on Wink, a creative consulting firm he started in 1998. "Tyler's entrepreneurial flair and talent, both as an editor and business manager, have helped shape two important and distinctive businesses, and this is the logical next step for him," said Michael Pepe, president of Time International, in a statement. In his own statement, Brule said, "The editor's post at Wallpaper is one of the plum positions in publishing, and Time Inc. is one of the best homes for a journalist. The last six years have been an incredible exercise in brand building, and I feel the time is right to use this experience to build up Wink across a variety of sectors." Brule and Wink will be based at Time Inc.'s international headquarters in London, where Brule will report to Pepe.
