Playbill.com reports that a new musical featuring a libretto by out playwright Tony Kushner, Caroline, or Change, will be part of the 2003-2004 season of New York's Public Theatre. Kushner, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Angels in America, wrote the script for the show about an African-American woman who works as a maid for a Jewish family in 1963 Louisiana as the civil rights movement reaches critical mass. The show features music by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie) and will be directed by George C. Wolfe. Other shows in the Public Theatre season will include Kander and Ebb's musical The Visit as well as dramas The Story, by Tracey Scott Wilson, and Well, by Lisa Kron, along with two productions to be announced later.
