Variety columnist Army Archerd reports that out Canadian director Thom Fitzgerald (The Hanging Garden, Beefcake) has just finished shooting his latest film, Three Needles. The movie deals with the smuggling of needles in AIDS-plagued Africa and reunites Fitzgerald with Olympia Dukakis, who also stars in Fitzgerald's upcoming film The Event, which will open later this year after hitting several gay and lesbian film festivals this summer.
