Chinese-language thriller Lust, Caution set in WWII-era Shanghai
Oscar-winning director Ang Lee has chosen his follow-up feature to Brokeback Mountain, and it's worlds away from gay cowboys and 1960s Wyoming. Focus Features announced Tuesday that Lee would stay with his Brokeback studio for Lust, Caution, a Chinese-language espionage thriller set in World War II-era Shanghai. Wang Hui-Ling, who previously wrote Lee's Eat Drink Man Woman and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, will adapt a short story by Eileen Chang for the screenplay. Brokeback Mountain is Focus Features' all-time highest grossing film, with a global box-office take of $178 million. (The Advocate)
