Carolyn Strauss
gets award—and genial ribbing

Carolyn Strauss, the out president of entertainment at HBO, usually prefers to work behind the scenes, but she was the center of attention at a Wednesday gala at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. At an event benefiting Aviva Family and Children's Services, Strauss received the Triumph of the Spirit Award from comedian Jeff Garlin. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Garlin took the opportunity to divulge one of the HBO exec's big secrets. "I've been to her house," said Garlin, "and she doesn't have cable...rabbit ears, that's it." (The Advocate)
