Another Gay Movie, Todd Stephen's (Edge of Seventeen) gay take on American Pie, opened to impressive numbers last weekend. The film opened on two screens, at the Quad Cinema in New York and the Laemmle Sunset 5 in Los Angeles, with a per-screen average of $16,658, taking in $33,316 for the weekend.
The movie revolves around four gay teenagers who make a pact to each have anal sex during the summer before going off to college. It features cameos from some of television's favorite reality stars, including Richard Hatch (Survivor) and James Getzlaff (Boy Meets Boy) as well as Graham Norton playing a teacher who by night has an underground S/M Web site.
TLA Releasing plans to expand the release to 30 markets through August and September. The movie will open in San Francisco on August 4 at the Castro Theatre and August 11 in Chicago, Atlanta, San Diego, Palm Springs, and Salt Lake City.
