The Toronto International Film Festival announced its Vanguard program, a selection of films at this year's festival that will center around sexually edgy material. The program will feature 11 risky, more challenging pictures that festival codirector Noah Cowen is quoted in Variety as saying will appeal to "people who delight in movies that push the envelopes of technology, culture, sexuality, and cinema itself."
Among the films selected to screen in the program are director John Cameron Mitchell's sexually explicit Shortbus as well as Chacun Sa Nuit from Gallic codirectors Pascal Arnold and Jean-Marc Barr, about the murder of a bisexual man. (The Advocate)
