Out director Pedro Almodovar's Volver won four awards Sunday at the European Film Awards in Warsaw. The accolades included Best Director, Best Actress for Penelope Cruz, Best Composer, and the People's Choice Award. Volver revolves around three generations of women who deal with problems in their family and community with the help of a ghost mother, played by Carmen Maura. The film also stars Lola Duenas, Blanca Portillo, and Yohana Cobo.

The Lives of Others won three awards, and Roman Polanski received the Lifetime Achievement Award. (The Advocate)
