Matt Lucas, star of the television comedy series Little Britain, tied the knot with his partner, TV producer Kevin McGee, in a civil ceremony on Sunday. Lucas, 32, and McGee, 30, emerged holding hands from a private club in central London after the ceremony and posed for pictures.

His Little Britain costar, David Walliams, television presenter Dale Winton, and comic Rob Brydon were among the celebrity guests at the ceremony, which was followed by a pantomime-themed reception.

The United Kingdom introduced civil partnerships for same-sex couples late last year, but--unlike in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and Canada--the couples do not have the status of marriage.

Last year singer Elton John and his partner, David Furnish, also made use of the new legislation. (Reuters)
