Actor Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his outlandish characters, crashed a rally near Los Angeles's city hall for supporters of California's proposed gay marriage ban on Sunday.

Cohen is working on a film based on his character Bruno, a flamboyantly gay Austrian fashion reporter.

Photographers and reporters realized the demonstrator was Cohen in disguise. Cohen and his film crew were then ushered into a van, whisking him away.

Cohen was ejected from a Paris fashion show in October when he climbed up onto a runway, attempting to hand the models a note. He's also disrupted shows in Milan and Madrid, prompting security guards to escort him off the premises.

The actor has made a career for creating eccentric characters, including for Da Ali G Show, where in character he'd interview unknowing subjects; and for Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. (Michelle Garcia, The Advocate)
