Darren Criss will become a regular on Glee after his debut playing a gay student last week.

According to Reuters, Glee creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the deal to the blog AfterElton over the weekend at the gala for the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

"Darren has become such a sensation in one week, which I love," said Murphy. "I think there's a hunger for him and a positive relationship role model. He'll definitely continue through the year and longer. We just signed a deal with him."

As the character Blaine, Criss performed a mostly a capella rendition of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" that has broken records for Glee first-day sales on iTunes.

Murphy said it remained undecided whether Blaine would become the boyfriend of Kurt played by Chris Colfer. He said that would be decided closer to the middle of the season.
