10. CALENDAR: Shirts & Skins 2012-13 DCGFFL Calendar
There are scores of gay sports leagues across America, but few put out calendars, and even fewer put out calendars as sexy as the DCGFFL, the only gay flag football league in Washington, D.C. Following the success of the league's many antibullying efforts, half the proceeds from the sale of Shirts & Skins -- a two-year beefcake calendar featuring gay and straight players -- fund LGBT youth programs. 9. DVD: Brothers and Sisters: The Complete Fifth Season
The fifth and final season of ABC's Brothers and Sisters, which is available August 23 on DVD, provides closure for one of television's most beloved gay couples, Kevin and Scotty (Matthew Rhys and Luke Macfarlane), who adopt a 12-year-old Latina and reunite with their kidnapped baby after dealing with Scotty's infidelity. Also, HIV-positive boyfriends Uncle Saul (Ron Rifkin) and Jonathan (Richard Chamberlain) get engaged.
8. TV: My Collection Obsession
Shoes, dolls, and even vacuums come tumbling out of the closet in a new Hoarders-esque special airing August 21 on TLC. Dolly Parton even shows up to surprise super-fan couple Patrick Parkey and Harrell Gabehart, who have transformed their three-story Pigeon Forge, Tenn., home into a shrine to the country star that's overstuffed with life-size cutouts, sequined costumes, and more stalkerish memorabilia like an old car title.
7. TV: Most Eligible Dallas
This Bravo docu-series about rich singles wasn't on our gaydar until Monday's premiere, in which gay cast member Drew Ginsburg (pictured) revealed that he had recently lost 200 pounds after gastric bypass surgery. Drew is also into luxury cars and his family's dealerships. "You wanna talk the arts? Go find another queer," he said, shortly after injecting female hormones to lose more weight. Top that, Logo's The A-List: Dallas!
6. DVD: To Die Like a Man
Recalling Pedro Almodovar at his edgiest and most contemplative, this eye-popping 2009 musical melodrama from gay Portuguese filmmaker Joao Pedro Rodrigues (O Fantasma) is available August 23 on DVD. A heartbreaking Fernando Santos stars as Tonia, an aging drag icon in 1980s Lisbon. Pressured by junkie boyfriend Rosario, Tonia, who also has a closeted gay son, begins a difficult and dangerous transition to become a woman.
5. MUSIC: Obscurities, Stephin Merritt
Available August 23, a quirky new rarities collection from the gay Magnetic Fields front man features hard-to-find recordings that date back to the songwriter's late '90s Merge Records period and earlier. The 14 haunting tracks include previously unreleased songs from The Song From Venus, an unfinished sci-fi musical, and "You Are Not My Mother and I Want to Go Home" from the audiobook of Neil Gaiman's novella Coraline.
4. EVENT: Mattachine
For more than three years at Manhattan's historic gay bar Julius', out filmmaker John Cameron Mitchell has thrown Mattachine, a monthly dance party "promoting ethical homosexual culture" and honoring LGBT pioneers. On August 21, as part of a cross-country summer road trip, he brings his old-school event to La Cita Bar in Los Angeles with performance artist Amber Martin and Shortbus stars Paul Dawson and PJ DeBoy.
3. MUSIC: What Matters Most: Barbra Streisand Sings the Lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman
Out August 23 in both regular and deluxe editions that include a 24-page color booklet, Streisand's stunning new album is made up solely of songs written by her longtime collaborators Alan and Marilyn Bergman, the team behind such classics as "The Way We Were" and "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." "The Windmills of Your Mind," "So Many Stars," and "That Face" are among the 10 Bergman gems previously unrecorded by Babs.
2. MUSIC: Change Begins With Me, Matt Zarley
Hunky out singer-songwriter Matt Zarley -- a Broadway vet and the first openly gay man featured as one of People's "Most Eligible Bachelors" -- releases his latest adult pop album August 23. Lead dance single "WTF," a flip-off to a famous ex-fling, anchors a sexy collection of swoon-worthy songs about falling in love and healing from heartbreak. The standout title track benefits from backup vocals by Broadway Inspirational Voices.
1. TV: Top Chef: Just Desserts
Bravo's Top Chef spin-off returns August 24 for a second season with sweet thangs Gail Simmons and Johnny Iuzzini as host and head judge, respectively. Bravo exec Andy Cohen called the show's debut season "one of the gayest we've ever done" -- out contestant Yigit Pura won -- and now gay competitors (pictured, clockwise from top left) Vanarin Kuch, Lina Biancamano, Craig Poirer, and Orlando Santos try to take the cake.
