54tdc_ks_1_0Seventeen years after its first release, director Mark Christopher's original vision for a film about the New York dance club that defined a generation is finally being realized with the release of 54: The Director's Cut.

The recut version of the film includes 44 minutes of never-before-seen material that restores the same-sex escapades of Studio 54's shirtless busboy turned drug-dealing hustler, Shane (Ryan Phillippe) -- which had been scrubbed from the film before its release in 1998.

54: The Director's Cut has been screening at festivals around the globe to rave reviews and will be made available June 2 on Digital HD from Miramax and Lionsgate Home Entertainment for the first time as well.

Take a look at the first official trailer for 54: The Director's Cut below -- which includes a first glimpse at some of the previously unreleased footage. Debuting exclusively on The Advocate.
