The popular trans services coordinator at San Diego's LGBT Community Center suffered minor injuries last week when he was punched by a man seeking crisis housing.

Connor Maddocks was treated at a local emergency room after the altercation, but was soon released. The person who attacked Maddocks was seeking housing and was recently released from prison, according to a witness who spoke toLGBT Weekly. Center chief executive officer Delores Jacobs released her own statement regarding what happened, saying the man seeking housing also shoved another staffer but that no one was seriously injured (Maddocks himself reported on Facebook that he was "fine.")

"We are currently conducting a thorough investigation regarding the facts of the incident. What we know at this point is that late yesterday afternoon, a community member came to The Center seeking services. When asked to return the following day to access the service he requested, he became agitated. He exchanged words with the staff members who were attempting to calm him, pushed one staff member and then struck another staff member. The assailant then left the premises and the police were called. No weapons were involved and no critical injury resulted."

In light of the incident, Jacobs said the Center is reviewing front desk security and emergency protocol.
