We'd watch Paul Mescal star in a movie any afternoon!

Irish actor Paul Mescal is one of the hottest names in Hollywood after earning an Emmy nomination for Normal People, an Oscar nomination for Aftersun, and an Olivier Award for A Streetcar Named Desire.
He's also beloved in the queer community for playing Andrew Scott's neighbor and lover in All of Us Strangers, and is about to explode on the big screen as the star of Ridley Scott's Gladiator II.
But it's one movie he isn't in that has us talking today.
According to a post from Film Updates, Mescal says that if he could play any role from any movie ever, he'd love to star as Sonny Wortzik in Dog Day Afternoon.
The role, made famous by Al Pacino, was based on real-life bank robber John Wojtowicz, who reportedly attempted to rob a branch of the Chase Manhattan Bank in 1972 in order to pay for his wife, a transgender woman named Elizabeth Eden, to get gender-affirming care and surgery.
We'd love to see it!
While Mescal won't be starring in that queer movie, he is starring in The History of Sound, an upcoming film from director Oliver Hermanus described as "a universal love story" about two young men who fall in love as they set out against the backdrop of World War I to record the lives, voices, and music of their fellow Americans.
Mescal will be starring opposite Challengers star Josh O'Connor in the movie, which is slated for release sometime in 2025.- These 25 hunky celebs are the eye candy you crave ›
