The U.S. Agency for International Development has announced a five-year, $127 million grant to a consortium headed by Johns Hopkins University to raise HIV/AIDS awareness in developing countries through the mass media, theater, art, and music, The Baltimore Sun reports. The groups will use the money to collaborate with television and radio stations, theater groups, and AIDS hotlines in the targeted countries. In addition to providing information about HIV/AIDS, the project also will address malaria, tuberculosis, family planning, and nutrition.
