The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has given Emory University Vaccine Center's Hope Clinic $2.2 million for clinical trials of anti-HIV microbicides. Two different microbicide gels will be tested in the study, which is the first of its kind in Atlanta to evaluate the safety and acceptability of microbicides for healthy women and HIV-infected women. Patients will be recruited later this year. (AP)
