Nine hundred international AIDS experts are scheduled to convene this week for the AIDS Vaccine 2007 Conference in Seattle. The weeklong conference will examine issues in the AIDS vaccine development such as the global effort in vaccine development, pediatric AIDS, and federal financial aid to fight the virus.

The location of the conference in Seattle reflects the region's international leadership in developing an AIDS vaccine. According to the conference's organizers, local organizations contributing to the conference include the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's HIV Vaccine Trials Network, the Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, the University of Washington, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
