The Carol actress is urging her homeland to vote yes to same-sex marriage.
While millions already voted in the Australian marriage equality poll, Melbourne native and Academy Award-winner Cate Blanchett has raised her voice in support of marriage equality. The Carol actress announced her passionate support in a video, declaring, ""Please vote yes, love is love whatever colour, shape and persuasion it comes in, and love never hurt anyone."
Blanchett joins several other Austrailian celebrities who are urging their fellow mates to vote for same-sex marriage; Hugh Jackman, Michael Caton, Chris Hemsworth, and Margot Robbie have publically expressed their support for the equality campaign.
As of now, pollsters maintain that votes for marriage equality have a solid lead. The plebiscite, though highly anticipated, is not politically binding, but Australian lawmakers feel that if a "yes" vote wins, it can get them the momentum to legalize same-sex marriage.
