Macaulay Culkin meets Michael Alig to research film role
The New York Daily News's Rush & Molloy report that actor Macaulay Culkin recently visited convicted felon Michael Alig in prison. Culkin will play the openly gay Alig in Party Monster, an upcoming film about Alig's career as a party promoter and how it all went awry when Alig confessed to helping kill fellow club kid Angel Melendez and chopping up his body. Alig's mother, Elke Blair, tells the columnists that her son was struck by his resemblance to the actor. "Michael said, 'Oh, my God, Mom! We have the same mannerisms!'" says Blair. Blair hopes that, despite the film's title, the movie will show her son "in a sympathetic light," adding that Alig is writing his memoirs, with the intention of using the royalties to set up shelters for young gay runaways. "He said, 'I killed someone, and I am so sorry, but I deserve to be here,'" says Blair.
