Stephen Spinella signs on for Nia Vardalos's drag comedy
The Hollywood Reporter notes that out Tony-winning actor Stephen Spinella (Angels in America) will play the genial drag-queen neighbor of Nia Vardalos and Toni Collette in the upcoming comedy Connie & Carla. Directed by Michael Lembeck, Connie is Vardalos's first screenplay since her Oscar-nominated My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The farce stars Vardalos and Collette as two singers who disguise themselves as drag queens to hide out from the mob; the duo will presumably get tips on shoulder pads and liquid eye liner from Spinella's character.
