A national conservative group that recently resumed a boycott of Ford Motor Co. because of its gay-friendly policies is now criticizing the automaker's sponsorship of a suburban Detroit pride event featuring a same-sex commitment ceremony. The American Family Association says that Ford's $10,000 donation to Motor City Pride shows "contempt for the concerns of traditional families," the Associated Press reports today. But a Ford spokesman told The Detroit News that the financial contribution supports children's education and a play area at the June 3-4 pride festivities in Ferndale, Mich., and "nothing more," which gay rights group the Triangle Foundation, which is organizing the weekend, confirmed.
