A candlelight vigil will be held Friday night, February 15, 7-9 p.m., to honor Lawrence King, the 15-year-old gay student at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard, Calif., who was shot twice in the head Tuesday by a fellow student who had bullied him for his gender-nonconforming behavior and appearance. King had been pronounced brain-dead on Wednesday and was removed from life support Thursday so that his organs could be donated.

According to a press release from the GSA Network, Transgender Law Center, and Equality California, vigil participants will gather at 7 p.m. at the Art Barn, located at 856 East Thompson Blvd., in Ventura, and walk to the beach beginning at 8 p.m. For more information contact the Ventura County Rainbow Alliance at (805) 339-6340.
