A Columbus, Ohio,
couple whose SUV was set ablaze on Tuesday has
subsequently revealed that they were attacked last
September. John and Larry Charlton say they were
attacked while walking down the street by a group of
men who first yelled a gay slur at them, WBNS TV reports.
They didn't come forward at the time, but after the
incident with their car, police urged them to go
public.
"Why in the world
did these people jump us?" Larry Charlton told
WBNS. "How can they be that hateful to two people just
walking down the street?"
The Charltons
have been a couple for more than seven years.
