Ron Silver, the twice Emmy nominated actor best known for his work in films including Reversal of Fortune and Ali , died Sunday after a two-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was 62.
Silver became known throughout his career as an outspoken political activist, championing liberal causes including gay rights and a woman's right to choose.
But he broke from the Democratic Party with his support of President George W. Bush's response to September 11, 2001. He delivered a rousing endorsement of Bush at the 2004 Republican National Convention.
