A Detroit man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a transgender teenager whose body was found dismembered and burned in October.

Michele Hilliard, also known as Shelley or Treasure, was last seen at 1:20 a.m. October 23 when a cab driver she often used for transportation dropped her off at an address. A portion of her body was found hours later but not positively identified for several weeks.

On Wednesday it was reported that Qasim Raqib had been arrested charged with premeditated murder and mutilation of a body.

The motive, revealed by WJBK Fox 2, may have been retaliation. New information points to Hilliard being an informant for the Madison Heights Police, and WJBK reports that she may have been the source behind a drug sting that resulted in the arrest of Raqib.

The story says a cell phone linked to Raqib was the phone used to lure Hilliard to the location she was last seen.

"We just very excited that they do have someone in custody," said Lyniece Nelson, Hilliard's mother. "God is working, so I know justice will be served."
