The Family Research Council and its antigay allies claim to be planning attacks of apocalyptic magnitude against Chai Feldblum, a lesbian nominee for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, at her Senate confirmation hearing Thursday.

GayPolitics.com reports about the effort to sabotage the confirmation of Feldblum, a Georgetown University Law Center professor who would become the first openly LGBT member of the EEOC.

"One source told GayPolitics.com that some Republican Senators are planning 'Armageddon' at Feldblum's confirmation hearing Thursday," reported GayPolitics.com. "They plan to paint her as an anti-religious extremist whose confirmation would threaten religious liberty."

Feldblum helped to draft the language for the original Employment Non-Discrimination Act.

That's "radical," according to one conservative website quoted by GayPolitics.com.

"Feldblum intends to use her position of influence as EEOC commissioner to force private institutions to follow her radical vision of society, through the enforcement of aggressive and intrusive employment non-discrimination laws," wrote the detractor.
