Miss California USA pageant director Keith Lewis, the official behind
the decision to fire former crown holder Carrie Prejean, gave the
state's largest gay rights group, Equality California, 30 seconds of free ad time during the
contest on Sunday -- and made a similar offer to Prejean.
Lewis, who is gay, donated the time to Equality California, according to the Associated Press, and left the door open for Prejean, if she cares to respond.
"Equality California announced Thursday that it would be airing a spot featuring a teenage girl with two mothers during the Nov. 22 contest, which is airing on the CW and My Network TV," reported the AP.
"Keith Lewis, the pageant's executive director, says he would give Prejean the same amount of time if she wanted to provide a pre-taped message."
