Star wedding planner David Tutera is being sued for $200,000 by a couple who say he failed to fulfill his obligations and ruined their big day.
According to the New York Post,Melissa Chin and Steve Choi filed the lawsuit against Tutera Monday in Manhattan supreme court, alleging that he "specifically intended to sabotage plaintiffs' wedding by ... failing to attend their wedding in Singapore even after being overpaid to attend; specifically instructing certain subcontractors in Singapore to not fulfill their obligations for the wedding; and by failing to return certain moneys."
Tutera, who is gay, is the star of the WE TV Show My Fair Wedding.
The suit seeks damages for the couple's "severe emotional distress," caused by his "blatant and malicious actions," which allegedly included failure to provide the bride's boquet, floor decor, VIP round table, linens, a white carpet for arrival, and a dance floor.
According to the Post, a spokesman for Tutera says that the wedding planner tried to reach Chin repeatedly after she missed a final payment deadline. He called the bride's father in Singapore, who told Tutera the family could not afford the wedding.
