Ramin Setoodeh, the Newsweek writer who found himself in hot water after writing a piece questioning the believability of gay actors in straight roles, is leaving the magazine for a job at People.
Setoodeh will serve as a senior writer focusing on news and human-interest stories. He will star his job the second week of July, a spokesperson for People Magazine, said.
The writer, who is gay, was left defending his Newsweek article criticizing out actors like Sean Hayes and Jonathan Groff to the likes of Kristin Chenoweth and GLAAD. Glee creator Ryan Murphy called for a boycott of Newsweek shortly after the article hit the Web.
