A Wisconsin LGBT rights group and five gay couples are seeking to intervene in a legal challenge to the state's domestic-partnership law.
Fair Wisconsin filed a Friday motion to intervene in a lawsuit brought in August by Wisconsin Family Action, which argues that the state's domestic-partnership registry conflicts with its constitutional ban on gay marriage, the Associated Press reports.
Wisconsin voters passed the constitutional amendment banning marriage equality in 2006. In June the state's supreme court upheld the referendum in a 7-0 vote.
