Utah Sen. Blames Antigay Vote on Her Constituents
Utah state senator Pat Jones disappointed LGBT voters when she went with the majority in deciding to table a bill allowing second-parent adoption, a process often used by same-sex couples, saying she lives in a conservative part of the state and has to represent her constituents.
After telling a man who passionately advocates on behalf of gay and lesbian parents that she wishes "I were your senator," she goes on to say she personally believes marriage should be between one man and one woman and "traditional families" are the "optimum" for raising families.
