Patricia Field, a fashion designer best known for creating elaborate outfits for Sex and the City, publicly defended alleged anti-Semite John Galliano on Tuesday.
In an email to 500 people in the fashion industry, the lesbian fashion designer defended Galliano, the former Christian Dior designer fired on Tuesday after a video surfaced of him declaring his love for Hitler -- he was previously accused of hurling anti-Semitic insults in two other instances. The subject line of Field's e-mail read, "IN PRAISE OF JOHN GALLIANO." Field also posted the message on Facebook and wrote, ""Beauty, intelligence and energy would describe John as I know him. Where in this trilogy could one find hate? I ask you! My second question is...What exactly did he say? And the third is...What is really going on here??"
Field later gave an interview to Women's Wear Daily where she said Galliano's actions were a "farce" and that the designer was "acting out a character."
