The actor who plays the resident gay character on the CW's 90210 says he's ready to leave West Beverly High School for other projects -- including a possible stint as a living doll.

"It's kind of run its course," Trevor Donovan told Access Hollywood about his character Teddy Montgomery's story line. "I think that's what's in everybody's mind."

Donovan said he's happy to have brought Teddy to life on the small screen. "It's made such a huge, positive impact," he said. He's also pleased with everything the role has presented to him, including the opportunity to lend support to gay causes like the It Gets Better campaign (see video below).

As for Donovan's future, the actor says he's preparing for a role in Oliver Stone's upcoming thriller Savages with John Travolta and Salma Hayek, and also confirmed rumors that he's in the running to play Ken -- of Barbie and Ken fame -- in a live-action film about the iconic doll couple.

"It's a possibility," he said. "Mattel and Sony and [producer] Laurence Mark are doing a film -- a Barbie film ... so I've been in talks."
