A 22-year-old man -- who was labeled an "animal" for a violent attack on two women in Keighley, England -- has been sentenced to six-and-a-half years in jail.

The U.K.'s Telegraph & Argus reports that on July 9, Verona Benson and Tracey Williams left a wedding reception at the Cavendish Hotel and were en route to a liquor store when they were approached by a drunken Adrian Feather, who "shouted abuse and angrily confronted them, arms waving."

Behaving like a "wild animal," Feather reportedly kicked, punched, and stomped on Benson and punched a screaming Williams in the face.

Benson suffered a double fracture and dislocation of her ankle as well as fractures to her cheek and eye sockets from the blows.

The article says Feather fled the scene, was arrested the next day, and later "pleaded guilty to wounding Miss Benson with intent to do her grievous bodily harm and common assault on Miss Williams."

The judge, Recorder Dean Kershaw, was shocked by the brutality of the crime. "You set about them in a way that I agree was like an animal," he told Feather.

After the sentencing, Detective Constable Gareth Hamer said he was pleased with the case's outcome. "This was a mindless attack and should be a warning to other would-be criminals that if you commit serious crimes you will be put behind bars."
