The 22nd Annual Drag King Contest is the perfect evening of camp and mockery to watch while you wait for the patriarchy to topple. Read more below.
Yup, it's a completely loony contest with balls-out performances by the most talented and funny drag kings in San Francisco, but it's also "one of the most boisterous parties of the year," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The 22nd Annual SF Drag King Contest celebrated the "Summer of Glove" with MC's Sister Roma and Fudgie Frottage, plus special guest Landon Cider, star of Southern California's Drag King Explosion and the king who was banned by RuPaul's Drag Race.
Best of all, some proceeds from the event will be donated to the volunteer-based organization that provides for the comprehensive needs of companion animals for low-income people with HIV or AIDS and other disabling illnesses, Pets Are Wonderful Support.
Thanks to Jamie Thrower for covering the event from backstage to final crowning.
