Milan Junek lives and works in Chomutov, a city in the Czech Republic. Junek is a Gypsy artist and that reflects uniquely in his work and his viewpoint.
Junek and his Roma talent is becoming renown in the Czech Republic, showing his work abroad and beginning to display in periodicals.
The Advocate has long appreciated his work and his dramatic sensibility, having earned a place in the Best In Photography for 2017. We hope to see more this year. Check out "The Bizarre and Erotic Rituals of Milan Junek".

That Roma spirit guided him through a difficult childhood. Much of his story is too difficult to tell: raised in an orphanage, met his mother when he was 30, and lost his brother to an early death. It might account for the mysterious and shadowy mood of many of his photos, but he has taken those dark times and let them shine in his work.
See more of his work on Instagram and Facebook.
*The Romani, colloquially known as Roma, are an Indo-Aryan ethnic group, traditionally itinerant, living mostly in Europe and the Americas and originating from the northern Indian subcontinent, from the Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab regions of modern-day India.
