U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter of California and his wife treated his campaign funds like their personal piggy bank, using the funds to pay for dental work, private school tuition, golf outing trips to Hawaii and Italy, fancy dinners, fast-food dinners, groceries, and even a $600 airline ticket for a pet bunny, according to an indictment from a federal grand jury released Tuesday. The Republican lawmaker and his wife, Margaret, are charged with using more than $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses and trying to conceal the spending with falsified campaign finance records, The New York Times reports.
