Take that, Kristi Noem!
It's always a glorious day when the disgraced politician gets dragged by celebrities on the internet. After all, Kristi built her platform by advocating for policies restricting LGBTQ+ rights as she climbed the ladder to become U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security under President Donald Trump.
When she served as governor of South Dakota, she even signed the "Religious Freedom Restoration Act," which effectively granted the state a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people. She also approved a ban on transgender girls participating in women's sports, and supported gender affirming care restrictions.
Besides her homophobic views, Kristi has also offended animal activists after admitting to shooting and killing her 14-month-old wirehaired pointer, Cricket, because the dog was aggressive and ruined a hunting trip. She also described killing a misbehaving goat in her 2024 memoir.
March proved to be a very difficult month for Kristi as she was fired by President Trump following a culmination of leadership failures and intense political pressure on March 5. Later that month, her husband, Bryon Noem, was accused of allegedly leading a secret double life as a crossdresser on March 31. The Daily Mail released "pouting ‘busty bimbo’ photos" of Bryon Noem wearing a makeshift breastplate and a "trove of explicit messages" linked to a fetish community.
It served as a shock to nobody when Kristi filed for divorce from Bryon. The court records became public on September 28, but the legal documents show that Kristi's lawyers originally prepared and signed the paperwork on April 6. Essentially, Kristi's political career and marriage both took massive downfalls in a matter of weeks.
What did Kristi Noem say about Kacey Musgraves?
As if Kristi hasn't been through enough embarrassment this year, the politician decided to take a cheap shot at country star and proud LGBTQ+ ally Kacey Musgraves in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter).
Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico attended Kacey's Dallas concert and posted a photo of them smiling together on social media. With the midterms coming up next month, Kristi decided to insert herself into the conversation to essentially shade both Kacey and James in the post.
"I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day. And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico," Kristi said.
Thankfully, Kacey came up with a legendary comeback that's garnered over 10 million views on X.
How did Kacey Musgraves respond to Kristi Noem?
Kacey beautifully shut down Kristi with one simple post. She was quick to reference Kristi's murder of her dog in a response that'll be quoted for years to come.
"I don't think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it," Kacey posted.
What makes this moment even juicier is that Ella Langley untagged herself from Kristi's post to distance herself from the drama. Plus, fans around the world quickly joined the discussion and delivered shade responses in the comments. Check out the highlights below!
